Replace USER with your home folder name.
$ cd /home/USER/Downloads/
$ gh repo clone daniel5151/surface-dial-linux
$ sudo apt install libevdev-dev libhidapi-dev libudev-dev
$ sudo apt install librust-libdbus-sys-dev
$ cargo build -p surface-dial-daemon --release
$ cargo install --path
$ sudo gpasswd -a $(whoami) $(stat -c "%G" /dev/input/event0)
$ sudo cp ./install/10-uinput.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/10-uinput.rules
$ sudo cp ./install/10-surface-dial.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/10-surface-dial.rules
$ systemctl --user enable surface-dial.service

Copy “surface-dial-daemon” to “/home/USER/.cargo/bin/”

Long press the dial and select “Volume”.
Add keyboard shortcut for “amixer -q -D pulse sset Master 1%+” which is volume up.
Add keyboard shortcut for “amixer -q -D pulse sset Master 1%- ” which is volume down.
