I was in a situation where the Internet was so slow, that a download that should be a few minutes to ten minutes, at normal, was taking close to an hour. I saw that I could connect to a guest connection, which of course isn’t really safe, but I had no choice, if I wanted to do some light web activity. I connected to the guest network and I was taken to a blank sign in page with nothing to do. It failed to load anything. I fiddled with it for sometime, until I figured out how to get it working.
Here is how I resolved my issue:
- Disable your network, if on a mobile device that has 4G, 5G, etc. You can do this from the notification panel and finding G, 4G, etc., icon.
- Find the guest network you want to connect to.
- Connect to the guest network.
- Get taken to the blank sign in page.
- Go to your web browser of choice.
- Go to the following website http://neverssl.com. If you are on a device that doesn’t force https, it should work. If not, try one of the following sites, http://connectivitycheck.gstatic.com, http://www.google.com, or http://example.com.
- After doing this, you should see the sign in page. At this point, it shouldn’t be blank.
- If you want, after signing in or doing what the page says, you can reconnect to your mobile network.
- All should be working.
