Windows 11 Update Issue: Affected SSDs and Fix

A recent Windows 11 update (KB5063878 or KB50626606) has been causing issues with certain SSDs, potentially leading to data corruption and system crashes. The affected SSDs are mostly Faison PS5012-E12 controller-based drives, including:

    • Western Digital Blue 5000 2 TB (recovered after reboot)
    • Western Digital Red SA 500 TB (recovered after reboot)
    • Corsair MP510 960 GB (recovered after reboot)
    • Corsair Force MP600 2 TB NVMe (recovered after reboot)

However, not all drives are affected, and some have been confirmed not to be affected, including:

    • Samsung 990 Pro
    • Samsung 980 Pro
    • Samsung 870 EVO
    • Western Digital Black SN7100
    • WD Blue SA510 1 TB
    • Seagate FireCuda 530 1 TB and 2 TB
    • Crucial T700
    • SanDisk SSD 240 GB

To fix the issue, users can:

    1. Go to Windows Updates
    2. Click on Update History
    3. Select Quality Updates
    4. Find and uninstall the KB5063878 or KB5062660 update

It’s recommended to roll back the update even if your drive is not on the affected list, as it’s unclear what other drives may be affected. Additionally, users are advised to turn off automatic updates to prevent the issue from reoccurring.
